An Island Interlude: Ko Phan Ngang

Our next stop was Ko Phan Ngang (pronounced Kopenyang).  There is only one reason to go to Ko Phan Ngang... The Moon Parties!  We arrived on the night of the Half-Moon party (in case you're wondering there is also the Full Moon Party and New Moon Party as well as some miscellaneous parties such as the Christmas Moon Party - really, any excuse to throw a party and they'll find it).

We arrived on Ko Phan Ngang at around 6:00, got transport to our guest house, and immediately fell into bed for a nap.  The Half Moon party started around 10 so we knew we had plenty of time and we wanted to be able to stay up so taking a nap was definitely necessary!

After we got up we all got dressed and then went down to the restaurant where there was free neon body paint so we got some food, beer, and body paint and got in the party mood!

Bryn Mawr Love <3

Now, I have to say, I actually had no idea what to expect from this party.  For one, I thought it was going to be on the beach and it turned out to be in the jungle (apparently only the Full Moon party is on the beach).  I also pictured a bunch of people just drunk and dancing with a DJ set up.  Well, that turned out to be true but it also turned out to be way more of an event than I imagined.  There were decorations for example.  Anyway, the three of us had a really fun time (and for those family members who read this... we were also very careful to stay safe and we did).

Anyway, I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking...

I love the love in this picture :)

Neon!

Most of the night my camera (and money) were looped around my dress strap but obviously in this picture my camera had other ideas...

Like I said, we had a good time.  I think we got back to our guest house at 5?  So needless to say we spent the majority of the next day sleeping.  Actually, it was pretty good luck because it poured the whole day (the first day it really rained!)!  So our guest house spent the whole day showing movies in the restaurant and after we finally got up and dressed we just kind of putzed around.  We went to the internet, booked tickets to Krabi for the next morning, bought USB sticks, watched movies, played card games, etc.  To be honest, like I said, there isn't much to do on Ko Phan Ngang unless you are going to one of the Moon parties...

Next up: Krabi!  (and then we're almost done!!!)
